I grew up watching lizzie mcguire, cousin skeeter, all that, s club 7. Yes those were the days. Back then, those shows were my influencers, but that is not the same for my children.
Nowadays, kids have YouTube. My kids have known the YouTube symbol since months old. As a matter of fact, before saying “youtube” they would call it “red” lol.
Representation Matters
I am so grateful for YouTube. My children have learned so much and have kept the kids busy when I’m busy. In fact, according to Pew Research 89 percent of parents said they use YouTube to entertain their children.
Although education and fun is important to me. Above all, representation matters. It’s important that my children see people on the screen that look like them. For instance, when we found Gracie Corner channel my kids were such in a shock, they just stood and stared at the television.
